For the teachers, mentors and subject experts who check that what a child reads here is actually correct. Two currencies, five stages of recognition, and no way to turn any of it into money.
The people who check and correct this material are recognised on the same terms: for contribution accepted, not for effort offered. One rule, because one rule is what the ledger implements today.
Two currencies
- Karma Points
- Earned when a contribution you make is accepted — never for effort merely offered, and never for how fast you replied. Speed multipliers were considered and rejected: they reward quick shallow answers to children, which is a safeguarding problem before it is a quality one. Karma does not expire.
- Guru Dakshina
- Rare, and awarded by editorial review rather than automatically. It is designed to go towards your own professional development — a course fee, conference travel, teaching materials, a device. It is not money and does not convert to money. Nothing awards it yet.
What earns Karma today
- Karma Points when a validation task you submit is accepted — a flat amount per task, weighted by the kind of task.
- Karma is capped at 120 a day. Past it, no further task can be claimed until tomorrow — the cap is on claiming, so nothing you have already started is lost.
Recognition as your Karma grows
Five named stages, in the tradition this platform teaches in. Each brings a badge, an emblem on your public profile, and — at the later stages — a seat on the subject panel that decides what good work looks like here.
- Sevak
- The helper. You have begun, and your first accepted contributions are on the record.
- Shikshak
- The teacher. Consistent, accepted work across a subject.
- Margdarshak
- The guide. Others in your subject are being steered by what you have corrected.
- Guru
- Depth and durability. A subject panel seat, and a hand in the standard itself.
- Maha Guru
- A career's worth of contribution to a public good. Rare, and meant to be.
These stages are designed and not yet built. Nothing awards a stage today, and no badge or panel seat is being issued — this page will not imply otherwise until it is.
Volunteers and paid mentors earn identically
There is no volunteer multiplier and no paid-mentor penalty. A two-class ledger would make the same number mean different things for different people, which destroys the only property a recognition currency has. Where a mentor is paid, that is a contract — it lives somewhere else entirely and never nets against this ledger. The moment recognition and payroll touch, recognition becomes a negotiation.
Recognition for delivered sessions, accepted content revisions and safeguarding training is designed but not built — nothing awards Karma for those yet, and this page will not imply otherwise until it does.
